amazing and rewarding experience in the world, but those wonderful,
innocent little lives also require a lot of stuff. Food, clothes,

cleaning products, more diapers and the list goes on. All of these
things take resources to produce and package and will eventually have
to be disposed of. If
you're like most parents you are probably concerned about your baby's
ecological impact and want to know how you can help.

is dedicated to providing parents with the information necessarty to
make smart, informed decisions that keep your baby comfortable and our
planet clean. We know that a mother's
life is hectic enough without worrying how carbon offsets,
biodegradable diapers and your baby's eating habits effect global
warming. We want to make this information easy for you (and your baby)
to understand and we want your feedback on how we can do it better.

Should I
feel guilty?
If
you're like most experienced mothers you have probably felt a bit
guilty while putting diaper after diaper into the garbage can. You may
have wondered already if some small part of the coral reef has died or
a young sea lion has been slightly weakened by your new baby's massive
garbage output.
At carbon-balanced-baby.org we
believe that if you take even the smallest measures to reduce, offset
and balance your baby's
carbon impression you are making a difference! Unless
you are intentionally pouring crude oil down your sewer pipe (and if
you did you would probably not be visiting this site) you should not feel guilty!
You
are a mother charged with the most important task in the world: to
raise and protect a baby. That baby has needs and you are
going to provide them.
It
is not your baby's fault, either. He or she is doing exactly what
babies have innocently been doing since the dawn of time: a lot of
eating, sleeping, crying and pooping. Being environmentally conscious
of every decision is difficult and, as busy as moms are,
sometimes convenience replaces an inconvenient option. We understand that and want to
help, and we want your advice to pass along as well.
